The Cuban Jounalists Association (UPEC) in Guantanamo announced the awards of the sixth issue of the Marco Antonio Charón Provintial Contest, to which 85 works were presented in the categories of radio, television, print and digital.

The jury awarded in the first place for television the documentary “Fe”, by Adrián Legrá Correa, and second the information entitled “Patrimonio subacuático costa Sur Maisí-Imías”, by Eniel Navarro Leyva, both of the Primadavisión TV Local station, in Baracoa. The third seat went to Isacc García Cárdenas, of Solvisión, by the information “Proeza en las alturas”.
In the radio category the first prize went to Martha Reyes Noa, of CMKS, with the testimony “Despues de Mathew”. The second was given to “Con el enemigo al lado”, a Dixy Samora Guilarte's documentary, of Radio Bahia and the third was for the testimony “Voces del porvenir”, by Dianelbis Delfino Martinez, also of CMKS.
In the written press Jorge Luis Merencio Cautín, correspondent for Granma newspaper, was first with his report “Olimpo de la naturaleza”; Julio César Cuba Labaut, of the Venceremos newspaper, was second with “Vaivenes del desabastecimiento” and the third place was shared by Lilibeth Alfonso Martínez and Roxana Romero Rodríguez, also of Venceremos, with the report “Venir al mundo sin azahares”
In digital journalism Mabel Pozo Ramírez (CMKS), Raisa Martín Lobo (Solvisión) and Ricardo Alexis López Castellanos (CMDX, La voz del Toa), obtained first, second and third places, respectively.
The most comprehensive special work with the greatest public impact, on this occasion was related to the treatment of the theme of the hurricane Matthew, by Arelis Alba Cobas, of CMDX La voz del Toa, in Baracoa.
In written press were mentioned Adriel Bosch Cascaret with his interview “Sabía que estaba la muerte ahí, pero no le tenía miedo” and Julio César Cuba Labaut with the commentary “Primero alegría y disciplina”. In television the commentary “Feria 14 de Febrero”, by Mavel Toirac (Primadavisión); Dianelbis Delfino Martínez for the report “Hay un rumor” and Martha Reyes for the documentary “Parientes de Lorca in Guantánamo” (CMKS).
