During the end-of-course ceremony, presided over by Dennis Legrá Azahares, the Cuban Communist Party's First Secretary in Guantanamo, it was recognized that this performance is due to the adequate training strategy of the more than 2,110 students presented to the exams, of which they approved more than 1,665 in mathematics, a greater number than in previous years.
Alis Azahares Torreblanca, provincial principal, also assessed the advances in Spanish subjects with a 99, 86 percent of approved and a 98, 06 in History of Cuba, superior results that placed the province as outstanding at national level, achievement with which they pay tribute to the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro and acknowledge the teachers of Guantanamo on the 64th anniversary of the Moncada Garrison Assault.
During the closing ceremony of the school year, 13 teachers were given the "Jose Tey" Medal and the Frank País Second Grade Order, as well as the recognition of the most integral municipalities in the education of the new generations of Guantanamo.
The ceremony also acknowledged other groups of teachers with the Distinction Rafael María de Mendive, the Jesus Menéndez Medal and the 55th anniversary Medal of the Labor Movement of Education, Science and Sport at national level.
Other merits that distinguish the educational sector in the province are the more than 50 medals obtained in national contests and in the pioneering contests "Sabe más quien lee mas,” "De donde crece la palma", "Tras aguas" and "The MINIT y yo ", among other results that show a greater preparation of the students in the different levels of education.
The 2016-2017 school year ended in the easternmost province of Cuba, with outstanding results in the indicators that measure efficiency and quality, among which the 99.6 school retention, the total coverage of the teaching staff and the careful attention to the infants through Educa a tu hijo Program.
Guantanamo concludes the school year that marked a new page in Cuban education, by graduating more than 30 thousand students of sixth, ninth and twelfth grades with good results, thanks to the work of those who educate.
