After more than nine months of Hurricane Matthew's passing through the southeastern tip of Cuba, its traces are almost imperceptible, with the strength of the recovery carried out by thousands of men and women of Baracoa and Maisí, the territories most affected, and where the commemoration Of National Rebellion Day, it was time to recognize outstanding workers and groups.
After more than nine months of Hurricane Matthew's passing through the southeastern tip of Cuba, its traces are almost imperceptible, with the strength of the recovery carried out by thousands of men and women of Baracoa and Maisí, the territories most affected, and where the commemoration Of National Rebellion Day, it was time to recognize outstanding workers and groups.
Fifteen workers (5 from Baracoa and 10 from Maisí) from different sectors and with a relevant and sustained work in the recovery tasks, both in their work centers and in their communities, were awarded with the commemorative medal 75th anniversary of the Cuban Workers Federation (CTC, in Spanish abbreviation).
For its part, the CTC also decided to give the flag of Proeza laboral to the groups: Small Local Industry of Construction Materials of Cabacú, the Baracoa Milk Plant and the Basic Unit of Cooperative Production (UBPC) Haroldo Martínez, all of the Cuba’s First City, as well as to the Basic Electrical Group of Maisí municipality, of the easternmost end of the island.
At present the recovery tasks in Baracoa and Maisí continues, concentrating the greatest efforts in the construction of houses, roads as well as in agricultural and forestry areas, with emphasis in the coffee, the coconut and the cocoa plantations.
