The way forward of the Revolution is mapped out  in line with the proposals of the Seventh Congress of the Cuban Communist Party for a prosperous and sustainable socialism, said José Ramón Machado Ventura, vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers during the central act on the National Rebellion Day in Pinar del Río.

"The 26 of July arouses in us emotion and the eternal commitment is united with Fidel and with all those who gave their lives so that Cuba will always be associated with the justice and dignity", expresses also the Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party.

"This is the first time we have commemorated National Rebellion Day without the physical presence of Fidel, but because he has not been absent, his example inspires the new generations."

This is showed by the results of the Pinar del Rio province, the westernmost region of the country, so that its inhabitants won the venue for the central act of July 26.

The statistics are enough to illustrate the contrast between reality before 1959 and today. One example is that more than 85 percent of the properties of Pinar del Rio did not belong to those who worked it, but after the Revolutionary triumph and the signing of the Law of Agrarian Reform justice was done: the peasants own their land.

In health, there were only 16 health care units and a few private clinics. Today Pinar del Rio has 626 clinics, 19 polyclinics, 8 dental clinics and 5 hospitals, as well as more than 4 thousand doctors, a figure 18 times higher than in those so.

"In rural areas today there are 24 emergency services that save lives and the astonishing number of more than 60 children who died per 1000 alive are transformed, the infant mortality rate is now 1.7 in the first half of 2017, an extraordinary figure, the lowest in Cuba at the moment,” José Ramón Machado recognized.

More than 3,000 collaborators from Pinar del Río offer their solidarity in 43 countries, as a sample of the humanistic character of Cuban health.

He also valued progress in the education sector in Pinar del Rio, where before 1959 there was a 30 percent illiteracy rate.

Likewise, unemployment fell from 30 percent to 1.3, and the tobacco sector, which is decisive for the national economy, is achieving results in the current harvest.

Machado Ventura also highlighted the growth in food, vegetable and rice production and the increase in the first half of the number of foreign visitors by 5 percent compared to the first half of 2016.

For these and other reasons was granted the venue of the central act on 26 July to the Pinar del Rio men and women who should be proud. To everyone a well-deserved congratulation and recognition on behalf of their compatriots.

There is still much to do in ordet to achieve the definitive take-off of the economy. In this difficult battle, we are convinced that the children of Pinar del Río will continue in the front line to contribute to the economic and social development of the country.

We live in a complex international situation, said Machado Ventura, in recent weeks interference and destabilizing actions against the Venezuelan government increased, to which we reiterate our solidarity.

And before concluding his speech at the national event on July 26, the vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba said: "In the memory of our martyrs, we affirm that we will not betray the country and the Revolution.”
