Rainfall (350.7 mm between May 2 and 3) caused the swell of the numerous Baracoa rivers and their tributaries, especially Joa, Miel, Jamal and Ma-caguaní, as well as the flooding of some city neighborhoods including La Granjita, Horno de Cal and one located at the end of the ballpark Manuel Fuentes Borges.
There was also a tornado in Bermejal area at the entrance of the city, which damaged the roof of some 255 homes, and four of them were completely destroyed.
According to early reports, nurseries of cocoa seedlings of Urban and Suburban Agriculture, irrigation systems, and some roads like in Quiviján and Cajuajo were also affected.
There was also damage in schools and Health care centers, in some primary power lines and supply connections, as well as in the food store of 614 Wholesale Unit and sewers.
Tony Romero Matos, president of the Municipal Civil Defense Council, told Granma that before the weather condition (it means rain and Tornado) the body was activated in a reduced number, together with the four affected areas, and it undertake recovery along with Baracoa people.
