As part of his visit to Russia, Cuban President Raul Castro, on Wednesday will meet with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to discuss prospects for bilateral projects of interest.
Both sides discussed about joint plans in the areas of energy, transport and health, according to a note of Russian executive quoted by Prensa Latina.
The Cuban president will hold talks on Thursday with President Vladimir Putin and the next day will pay a courtesy visit to the patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, Kiril.
Raul Castro arrived in Moscow, from Algeria to attend the celebrations on the 70th anniversary of the Red Army's victory over fascism on May 9.
The Cuban leader is accompanied by the vice president of the Council of Ministers Ricardo Cabrisas, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez; and Army Corps General Leopoldo Cintra Frias, Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, and also the ambassador to Russia, Emilio Lozada.
Upon arrival at the Vnukovo-2 airport, the delegation of the largest island of the Antilles was received by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, and other officials, as required by protocol in the Eurasian nation.
The Cuban president has visited Russia three times since 2009. The most recent was in July 2012 when the Russian counterpart evaluated the progress of the agreements signed three years ago to provide bilateral relations of a strategic nature.
In early 2013, Raul Castro met with Medvedev during the Russian prime minister’s trip to Havana, and in July 2014 received Putin, on a visit that served to sign a dozen documents aimed at strengthening cooperation in areas of common interest.
