The cavalcade took place this time along the Pedro A. Perez Street, and the most outstanding folkloric structures of the region were present, including the adult group Negro Fino, and its children's group Guaracheritos del Caribe, both winners in the competition last week.
The celebration was also enriched by others structures like Montompolo and Carabali, the Franco-Haitian culture group Los Cossiá, La Jardinera group, all winners in their categories, during the 2017 Guantánamo Carnival, which concluded on Sunday.
Big audience crowded in front of the José Martí Central Park, where other performances were made, painteresque characters present in every issue of Guantanamo Carnival.
Veteran artist of visual arts Ramon Moya impersonated San Joaquim heading the cavalcade. It closed with two moments with the groups El Algarrobo and Obbá Ilú Ará, of rumba.
According to historical references, already in the 20th century the Guantanamo Carnival was placed on August 16, and San Joaquin was chosen as protector of the celebration, which according to the Catholic tradition was the father of the Virgin Mary, and is known As patron saint of several towns in America and Spain.
In order to crown the festivity, dance areas were activated in the city´s colonial core and other sites, including the Pedro A. Pérez Plaza and that of the youth, in the Caribe community, where Los Karachi and Odelkis Revé y su Changüí groups performed
