The architect Fernando Rafael Gómez Martínez is the winner of Architecture, Planning and Engineering José Salcines Lecticio Award, for his project of Remodeling the Marketplace of the city of Guantanamo.
The architect explained that this was an idea of Luis Antonio Torres Iribar, former secretary of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) in the province, who entrusted it to make the project together with the Development Group for the City based on the benchmarks of the Market El Guararey, other of his designs located in the northeast of the capital city.
The current project respects the structure designed in the nineteenth century by the famous engineer and architect José Lecticio Salcines as beautiful sculptures, ribbed domes and four-lined plant inside areas for vehicle and pedestrian streets in both lane that recall the ideal European Renaissance.
"A song to work,” the name of project by the architect Fernando Rafael Gómez Martínez, is committed to the rescue of the Markeplace of the city, which is one of the Seven Wonders of the Guantanamo Architecture.
