The 1870 luxury restaurant in the Guantanamo city and the coconut shredder plant in Baracoa are among the goods and services that have arose in the province thanks to the 18 projects of the Municipal Initiative for Local Development.
Other works such as the Plaza Hotel in Baracoa and the remodeling of Brazil Hotel are also the result of this movement that in the commerce sector generates revenues of more than one million Cuban Convertible Peso (CUC), invested for example, in the restoration of the Odessa Club in the main city.
Yens Williams Ferrer, official of the Council of Provincial Administration, highlights the relevance of the Municipal Initiative in the creation of several small-plants for the local production of fruit pulp, ice cream and in the increase of the productive capacity of highly- demanded- byproducts in the gastronomy.
The expert stresses that the La Primada Canning Factory in Baracoa and improvements in the fishing industry are also summarized in the outcomes of the projects implemented in six of the ten municipalities of the province.
In Guantanamo, it is expected that this 2018, thanks to the Municipal Initiative projects, the Brisas del Mar Hotel in the First Cuban City will be financed as well as the Hostal La Avellanada, which will be located on the second floor of that popular gastronomic unit of the provincial capital.
Yens Williams Ferrer Castellanos, official of the Council of the Provincial Administration, the manager of the activity, pointed out that this movement is an opportunity for territorial governments to visualize their priorities and opportunities to progress and have access to international funds.
