This Monday the preliminary results of the second stage of general elections will be announced, in which 8 million 740 thousand 569 Cubans were called.
The last report issued by the National Electoral Commission indicates that 6 million 963 thousand twenty-eight voters attended to the polls, which confirms the massive participation in these elections.
The president of the Commission, Alina Balseiro, valued the process of satisfaction, and it meant that that figure represents 78.54 percent of the total number of Cubans called to elect the 605 deputies to the National Assembly of the People’s Popular and the 265 provincial delegates.
After exercising their right to vote the president of the councils of state and ministers Raul Castro Ruz held a meeting with the members of the Electoral College number one, and other electors of the community11 of the Segundo Frente Municipality, in the eastern Santiago Cuba Province.
According to the timetable of the process, the constitution of the provincial assemblies will be held on the 25th, and on April 19, the Parliament and the members of the State Council and its President, First Vice President and Vice Presidents will be appointed.
New Multislice Computed Tomography Installed in Guantanamo Dr. Agostinho Neto Hospital
A Japanese Multislice Computed Tomography (MSCT) scanner was installed in the General Teaching Hospital Dr. Agostinho Neto of Guantanamo and will operate in the second half of March, after the training of the medical imaging techniques
Dr. Zulma Luisa Barrera Jay, integral deputy director of the institution, informed that the team strengthens the capacity of the services of Imaging and will allow to study affections of the whole body, mainly cerebrovascular; pulmonary, digestive, brain diseases and gynecological obstetric tumors, as well as clinical trial patients.
She also stated that the previous single- radiation-source CAT was moved to the Pedro Agustín Pérez Pediatric Hospital, where all patients will be taken care until the MSCT will began to operate.
The new means of diagnosis will allow, in addition to better visualizing all the structures of the body, to carry out virtual studies, as well as more specific reconstructions. Its characteristics make it much faster than the previous one and will facilitate the attention to a greater number of people (currently they can only check 15 to 20 per day).
Barrera Jay pointed out that the new technology cost nearly 420. 000 Cuban convertible pesos and its use will improve the quality of the medical care of the population in the main health center of the province.
