The 75 entities used for restaurant services in Guantanamo, use non-state management models, a change that shows the progress of the economic update in that sector.
The self-employed structure benefits 171 workers who carry out activities such as saddlery, gastronomy and dry-cleaning, work for which they rent out the means and premises where they previously worked as state employees.
El Puente coffee shop, a non-agricultural cooperative that operates with stability due to its regular supply by the province's wholesale enterprise, stands out among the transformed units with sales reaching over 950 thousand pesos (national currency).
Although the results of the implementation of non-state management models in the territory are notable, this policy needs to reverse the scarce of raw materials in the wholesale market, the main argument by which repairers of household appliances do not accept this change.
As projected in the guiding documents for the country´s economic update, the units of the restaurant, the technical and personal services existing in Guantanamo, will be progressively managed by the self-employed or cooperatives, in order to print efficiency, diversification in the offers and guarantee greater consumer protection.
