Festival Brings Together Notable Cuban Filmmakers in Guantanamo

Moviendo Video Clip Festival in GuantanamoAudiovisual filmmakers from various regions of the country, including the renowned Orlando Cruzata and other members of the Lucas project, are currently leading the fifth Moviendo Festival, the most notorious Cuba video clip event, in Guantánamo.

 

This time, around fifty works of creators from five provinces are in competition, which shows the attractiveness of this genre among its artists in the country, a fact praised by Cruzata, "father of the program and the Lucas awards", who said that the Cuban video clip is going through the best moment since its creation at the end of the 80s.

From the referent that this manifestation of the audiovisual the prestigious and already veteran capital event, Moviendo as another space to share and promote, with new potentialities, in addition to being opportune in the growth of the local filmmakers, Guillermo Kerton, main organizer of the young contest, said.

The new director of television of the Guaso Villa, said that although in 2013, Moviendo Festival emerged to award music videos of the territory, since last year it expanded its bases and formalized the participation of national exponents, given the good reception of the call, to which directors of several provinces responded, and even foreigners who filmed in Guantánamo.

This fifth festival opened last Wednesday night in the La Sandunga de Artex hall, with a concert by the local urban music group Real Familia, a day in which the jury sessions also began, made up of the directors and television directors Mariano Orúe and Antonio Planes, the musicologist Rosario Pupo and the journalist Adriel Bosch.

The activities of the event, which in addition to exhibitions of audiovisual materials include theoretical events, community actions and exchanges with the public, were extended today to the University of Guantanamo and to the headquarters of Charabia Production -producer of musical clips-, a space where the participants talked about the contemporary tendencies of the genre, in Cuba and the world.

In these meetings Orlando Cruzata highlighted the importance of the audiovisual Moviendo as a space for promotion and referred to the creative freedom that characterizes, in general, the realization of musical short films on the Island.

According to the schedule, on Friday morning, while the jury deliberates the local creators and guests will tour cultural installations and emblematic sites of Guantanamo´s colonial core, and in the afternoon, in the lobby of the Guaso Theater, several cultural centers of the territory will promote their main offers and products, with exhibition character.

At night, on the stage of that room, an awards gala took place, which brought together a number of institutions: the Luis Martínez Griñán Music Center, the provincial branch of the Saíz Brothers Association, Culture, the University of Guantanamo, Charabia Production and the Solvisión Telecenter.
