About a hundred health professionals from the provinces of Granma, Holguín, Las Tunas, Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo attend in the latter city the fourth Territorial Encounter on Nursing with the aim of exchanging experiences in this field having presently all the tools to enhance the people´s health and well-being.
This issue draws upon a varied program and several themes that enables us to assess the role of those who accompany doctors from primary health care in order to guarantee a better partnership, peace, justice and put an end to hunger, poverty and malnutrition in the world as indicated by some of the 17 sustainable development goals up to 2030, an essence of this regional event.
It is also emphasized the need to protect human beings from diseases not only from the assistance; it is indispensable their prevention, the care of the environment and the protection of resources such as water, essential for life.
Eudis Nápoles Wilson, president of the chapter of the Cuban Nursing Society in Guantanamo made up of over 4 000 members, said that it is the first time that this province makes this territorial event to expose issues addressed to the elderly care, the use of traditional medicine, obstetrics and emergency, among other specialties of the health sector.
The event hosted by the University of Medical Sciences in the easternmost province of Cuba, extends until Friday and seeks to widen knowledge on the important role of those who practice nursing on the basis of fundamental principles such as knowledge of the mother tongue, the history of Cuba, the aesthetic appreciation, formal education and humanism pillars of those who proudly wear their white uniforms.
The scientific encounter has as theme “Nursing contribution to the achievement of sustainable development goals" and also has the participation of doctors, leaders of the Communist Party, government, Public Health authorities and the Ministry of Science Technology and Environment in the territory.
