More than 2 thousand 749 students who finish the ninth grade in Guantanamo in this school year will have the opportunity to continue studies in pre-university education in its various forms.
Of this figure, 360 adolescents passed entrance exams to access the Vocational Institute of Exact Sciences José Marcelino Maceo Grajales of this city, while about 815 opted for careers of pedagogical profile.
Gregorio Quibiyet Perez, provincial head of secondary school, said that by September they will open new degrees for the specialties of Dance, Theater Vision Education, as well as Visual Arts and Musical Education for basic and primary school education.
Students in ninth grade can train as teachers in the careers of Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, History, as well as Civil Construction, Economics and Light Industry, with a period of four years in the pedagogical schools located in the Baracoa municipality and the provincial capital.
About three thousand 338 students will be registered at the vocational centers, of these two thousand 400 with middle-level technician profile, which responds to the demand for qualified workforce for production and services.
