With the call to universal awareness of the need to protect and improve the environment, the World Environment Day is celebrated in Guantanamo on June 5, a commemoration that this year is dedicated to the importance of developing the "State Plan for the Confrontation to Climate Change in Cuba (Life Task) ".
This strategy is applied given the need in the country to preserve the people’ physical integrity, guarantee food security, ensure the availability and efficient use of natural resources, in the face of disasters and other consequences as a result of climate change.
With this purpose, the scientific community works in the Life Task Project in municipalities such as Baracoa, vulnerable to floods in intense rainfall and overflowing rivers, the vulnerability of buildings and infrastructure due to insufficient coastal protection in the face of extreme hydrometeorological events.
For this reason, the joint work of all sectors in this regard is essential, for which it is necessary to know and implement the above mentioned project through courses, workshops and other activities to raise awareness among the population.
It is important to understand the consequences of inaction in the face of the effects of climate change, not only in the sphere of the economy, but also in the social and environmental sphere.
