Some 300 Guantanamo people received the Forjadores del Futuro Medal in the last five years for contributing with their work and research to the economic and social development of the province.
The honorary condition, granted by the Youth Technical Brigades (BTJ, in Spanish), recognizes the contribution of talented young people from different sectors of society, as well as outstanding entities such as the University of Guantanamo and the Mountain Development Center in this eastern territory.
Alexander Olivares Trimiño, provincial president of the BTJ, explains that at the moment about a hundred nominees are analyzed, who are backed by the impact of studies and innovations in looking for solutions to the problems that affect the territorial and national progress.
He said that this process is of great importance to determine the new ones that will hold the Forjadores del Futuro Medal, aimed at rewarding the young people, personalities and outstanding work groups in the daily work of the scientific and technical activity that saves the country considerable resources.
Commander in Chief Fidel Castro was the architect of the Juvenile Technical Brigades created on December 6, 1964 and in Guantanamo they bring together about 1,900 young people, of whom about 300 are holders of the Forjadores del Futuro Medal in the last five years.
