The bridge over the Toa river is 97 percent completed, reported Major Germaín Velázquez Camacaro, in charge of the International Civic-Military Rescue and Humanitarian Assistance Brigade “Simón Bolívar” that work on it.
He informed that work is being done on the melting of the defenses and sidewalks for the pedestrian crossing, after which they will pave asphalt material to finish that work that is part of the humanitarian response of Venezuela, after Hurricane Matthew.
Although most of the materials of the structure were imported, the Integral Construction Enterprise of Guantanamo is in charge of the production of the asphalt concrete needed in the Baracoa and Maisí plants, also as result of the collaboration of the Latin American country.
The Toa viaduct is on the same site as its predecessor destroyed by Matthew almost two years ago, will be 223 meters long, 11 meters wide and three meters taller than the previous one, more resistant to floods.
