The road that gives access from the Moa City to Baracoa, has been for some months in capital repair to return its usefulness and promote the socio-economic development of these cities.

This road, which construction that was not completed began in the 80s, has a length of about 70 km and a high level of deterioration due to its low maintenance, a situation that limits vehicular traffic.

The area, characterized as one of the rainiest in Cuba, has an unstable soil, where the proximity of some stretches to the sea also influences.

The Construction Company of Engineering Works #17 of Holguín carries out at present the repair works where is used the stabilization technique, known as cement floor, which consists of applying this product directly on the embankment and then it is mixed with the existing floor achieving a base of 20 cm thick, so that a solid seat results before applying the corresponding asphalt pavement.

When reaching a compaction between 97 and 98 percent, valued by the international standards, and being preserved with asphalt mix, the durability of this road will be over 20 years, although it depends in turn on the maintenance required for this type of engineering work.

The repair of this road will reduce travel time, while providing a comfortable trip to national and foreign visitors wishing to make tourism in the town of Baracoa or the province of Holguin, a road that is still almost impassable and tedious because of the travel hours and the terrible conditions of the road.

It will also benefit, without doubt, the transportation of the inhabitants in the adjacent villages where it was very difficult to move, as well as agriculture, the main economic line of the area, will be benefitted.

Due to the complexity of the engineering work, its construction was planned for about five years, since in some sections are required specialized works so that quality predominates and early deterioration is avoided.
