Salvador Valdés Mesa, First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers evaluated in Guantanamo the progress of programs related to the production of food for the population, in which he pointed out the improvement of the municipal agricultural self-sufficiency program, the operation of the collection system and the mechanisms.
Accompanied by the top authorities of the Cuban Communist Party and the Government in the province and of Agriculture, the member of the Political Bureau also recognized the advances that can be seen in the per capita delivery of roots, grains and vegetables by inhabitants at a territorial level, but insisted on duplicating the productions and improve the hiring and gathering mechanisms to achieve higher levels of distribution of quality products to the population.
Valdés Mesa called to "improve and be more efficient with the available resources, ensuring that self-sufficiency supplies each neighborhood to better exploit and expand these capabilities in productive units."
At the end of the meeting, the Cuban Vice President reiterated that "progress is being made, but it is not enough, and food production is a priority task for the country, whatever the conditions and difficulties that may be faced," he concluded.
