About sixty radio amateur operators from the Guantanamo Province will support communications from mountainous areas of the territory during the performance on Sunday of the constitutional referendum to ratify the new Magna Carta that was approved by the Cuban Parliament.
The president of the Guantanamo branch of the Cuban Radio Amateur Association, Roberto Rivas Muñoz, assured that the preparations go forward with the help of a group of experienced colleagues in this type of events, which guarantees the success of the actions of communicators.
Rivas Muñoz added that habitually radio amateurs are an inseparable part of this type of process, to which they contribute personnel, equipment and knowledge to the entire communications infrastructure, which must be guaranteed to keep the information flow in case of any event during the electoral day.
At present, the Guantánamo Province has more than two hundred and twenty radio amateurs, including men and women, doctors, teachers, artists, scientists, military, farmers, students and housewives, who find in this activity, a useful and educational way to spend time and intelligence.
