The 124th anniversary of the resumption of the Cuban independence war against the Spanish metropolis was evoked this Saturday in Guantanamo, with a cultural political event in the Mambisado Mausoleum, in La Confianza, southwest of the provincial capital, the main scenario of the uprising of the 24th of February of 1895 in the region.
As part of the celebration, the member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Party in the province Rafael Pérez Fernández, as well as other leaders, signed the 2019 plan of joint work with the organizations, agencies and institutions of the territory,
The presidency also gave to several workers and students the card that accredits as members of the Cuban Communist Party who have demonstrated their prominence in the different centers where they work and study, as well as their unconditional support and commitment to the Revolution.
At the end of the event, the member of the Municipal Bureau of the Cuban Communist Party, Yunior Direntau Pérez, recalled how in that epic day, Periquito Pérez, by order of Martí, led the rebellion of the beginning of the Necessary War and hours later his troops attacked the Spanish Fortress Morrillo Chico, in Hatibonico, current Caimanera Municipality.
In the same way, he called on the people of Guantanamo to maintain the independence spirit with the support of the Constitutional Reform and the support to Venezuela in the face of the interference of the United States in that sister country.
