After obtaining various achievements, the Cuban Association of Disabled People (ACLIFIM), set up 39 years ago, still works to maintain the inclusion of the more than 6 thousand associates of the Guantanamo province from its collaboration in the various activities that are scheduled.
During almost four decades, the organization stands out in sports and cultural activities with the presentation of plays, dance and music, said Simón Despaine Robert, the head of that membership in the territory.
He highlighted that the group Changüí Renacer, from the capital city, and the soloist Enrique Camacho, from the El Salvador Municipality are awarded at several provincial and national events such as the Song Festival, which took place last year in the country's capital.
The artisans of the Imías Municipality are also distinguished by the display of various utilitarian objects for domestic use such as carpets, napkins and tablecloths, as well as the making of woven hats and dolls.
The provincial president of the Cuban ACLIFIM recognized the will of the athletes of that membership that aspire to resume the traditional competitions of checkers, dominoes, fishing, fencing and wheelchair marathons, among others local events.
On March 14, 1980, the ACLIFIM was created as an initiative of the Cuban leader, Fidel Castro Ruz, an organization that helps disabled men and women with to achieve greater inclusion to society from all spheres.
