Last March, the stage of enrichment, flowering and favorable results to the Provincial Flower Enterprise of Guantanamo, in the commercialization of flowers and ornamental plants, which last year had revenues of more than one million 600 pesos.
This entity, set up since 2012, has 4 gardens and a nursery where 20 varieties of plants are cultivated, such as lilies, roses, sunflowers, dahlias, Japanese daisies, lilies, León's mouth, among others that sow, taking into account the location, weather conditions and other important elements for the growth and quality.
Among the services of greatest demand are the confection and the spending of crowns 24 hours a day, besides the sale of flowers, ornamental plants and pottery pieces in the Noche Guantanamera, a stand that is permanent on Los Maceo and Jesús del Sol streets in the city.

Also the Provincial Enterprise of Flowers takes on the setting of premises, as well as an agreement of work with the Women’s Penitentiary Center, which favors the employment of women in works of artificial floristry, production of flowers, ornamental plants and the social reintegration of men in gardens such as La Dalia and Gladiolo, in the areas of the South and Central West, of Guantanamo.
The floriculture in Guantanamo faces problems in the acquisition of supplies and chemical products, modern irrigation systems and means of transport for the transfer of flowers, as with the Ministry of Agriculture that prioritizes the cultivation of food.

We also take into account the lack of means to protect workers dedicated to the difficult task of planting flowers, a great demand in the Guantanamo population for decorations, gifts, offerings and spiritual rites.
Among the greatest aspirations of the enterprise is the purchase of a modernized irrigation system for the La Clarita Garden, in Yateras, to increase flowering; and another in La Tagua, in Manuel Tames, considered nationally as sanctuary for flowers, where rainfed production now guarantees various wild species such as the butterfly and orchids, which captivate for their beauty and aroma.
In general, state and private flower producers need a better management of plantings from the selection of the seed to the commercialization of the final product, the search of scientific-technological projects that bet for higher yields and other procedures that guarantee the growth of floriculture, perfume, adornment and good life.
