The specialists of the Provincial Meteorological Center, of Guantanamo, received the condition of national vanguard for the second consecutive occasion, with which this institution becomes the only one of its kind in Cuba that holds the recognition.
This was announced in the ceremony act granted by the Cuban Workers Federation (CTC) to staffs with a relevant work such as the Meteorological Center that stands out in the country due to the high effectiveness of the predictions, above 90 percent, which allows preserve human lives and goods of the economy, before the impact of natural phenomena.
It was also noted that the Guantanamo meteorologists work with a network of automated stations based on the three characteristic climates of the province, which implies carrying out complex analyzes of climate.
It was also recognized that the Provincial Meteorological Center leads the study of the mountain climate and maintains the work of the drought monitoring system, one of the effects of climate change in the territory.
During the meeting chaired by Marilus Leyva, member of the Provincial Bureau of the Cuban Communist Party, the distinction Juan Tomás Roig Mesa was also bestowed to 6 outstanding workers during 20 and 25 years of work in the science sector, whose investigations have contributed to the sustainable development of the nation.
