The award of the National Diploma "Emilio Roig de Leuchsenring", granted by the Union of Historians of Cuba, to the Guantanamo Wilfredo de Jesus Campo Cremé, excelled in the provincial act on the Cuban Historian Day that honors the work of the membership from June 14 to the 12 of this month.
In the event held in the "Antonio Maceo" park, in the Guantanamo City, the provincial recognition "Rolando Quintero Mena" was given to seventeen associates, for their meritorious performance during the year in the field of research and promotion of the regional and local history, as well as their contribution in publications, courses and workshops that develop the formation of values and knowledge about figures and events of impact on the emancipation of the Cuban people.
The MSc. Luis Figueras Pérez was also awarded for maintaining the History section in the "Por el dial" radio program of the CMKS Radio Station during twenty years, as well as his participation in the XXIII National Congress of Historians of Cuba together with five others delegates from the Cuban easternmost province, including the guest Roberlandi Thomas Torres, the best graduate of the career of Marxism-Leninism and History, of the University of Guantanamo.
The provincial branch of the Cuban Historians Association also awarded organizations and institutions for their outstanding performance on political and investigative work such as the municipal committee of Baracoa, the grass-root committee "Loma del Chivo" and 20 -A "Guillermo Quesada Santanach ", the latter linked to the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution, an organization also recognized in the political and cultural act.
The Provincial Book Center, the José Martí Cultural Society, the Municipal and Provincial Directorate of Culture were acknowledged during the ceremony that commemorates the Day of the Historian, in addition to the journalists Liubis Balart Martínez, of the CMKS Provincial Radio Station, Víctor Hugo Purón Fonseca, of the Weekly Venceremos, and Yoanna Cervera Hernández, of the Solvisión Television Channel.
Vivian Diaz Bardaji, president of the Cuban Historians Association in Guantanamo, received from the Municipal Education Directorate and the Combatant Association diplomas accrediting the praiseworthy work of the organization, which highlights community activities, scientific methodological events "De la Confianza a San Pedro" and "Playita de Cajobabo".
Finally the Master in Science read the message to the historians in whose text they renewed the professional commitment, the effort to do a better job in addition to continuing to defend the revolutionary process forged by the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz as continuity of the independence struggles initiated by Carlos Céspedes on October 10, 1868.
