Mornings are nice at the Jose Marti Central Park in Guantanamo and that peaceful environment is used by a group that devotes some time to the practice of Tai Chi.
It is an ancient Chinese discipline, a system that combines body breathing and mental exercises performed smoothly and slowly with the accompaniment of music.
“Since 2007 I practice this discipline, it has helped me so much, I suffer from osteoarthritis and since I remain in this practice I have appreciated the changes. I can do some housework without any problem”, says Nieves Leyva Calderín.
This practice in humans enables the development of relaxation, mental concentration, coordination, and a deep and conscious breathing and its benefits are accessible to all people of all ages.
“I am over 71 years old, sometimes while some work at home or others go to school, I have to go shopping or to the market, I have to transport certain amount of goods and thanks to the Tai Chi practice, I can manage with weight at this age”, says Nieves.
These exercises are based on holistic health concepts of traditional Chinese medicine and induce the flow of vital energy through energy channels distributed throughout the body.
At the Jose Marti Park we do different types of exercises such as Tai Chi Chuan acting over the person in a way of highly effective self massage in the internal organs, muscular system and bone structure, says Rosalina Gonzalez Gomez .
In the mornings where Tai Chi is practiced at the park, viewers can distinguish an environment which by its harmony in the slow motion as if by inertia magnetizes.
These are the impressions we have of Taijiquan, a martial art that originated in China and currently is practiced by million people worldwide in search of better lifestyle.
From this incentive the Lindo Amanecer community project was created four years ago, with people of different ages who for whatever reason feel the need to free the mind and find inner peace.
That is also the essence of all groups formed in Cuba for such a practice. Cecilio Garbey Gonzalez says these exercises take away stress."
Balancing energy, Chinese mythology states that this practice arose inspired by the struggle between a crane and a snake, which was won by the latter, for their fast and relaxed movements.
Tai Chi, as it is known, has the peculiarity of combining the mind, breathing and body in perfect harmony that balances energy and gives a favorable state of mental health.
Ramona Moran Valley said that you can get big benefits from this practice as it is effective as a mild exercise that assumes relaxed movements, and by the way they performed.
The days are pleasant for those who practice this ancient Chinese martial art, as from the execution of the exercises the mind is free from stress, which is very important for many people.
This weekend the group participated in a territorial encounter in Santiago de Cuba, where the five eastern provinces were present and ranked first.
With coordinated and harmonious movements, dozens of practitioners of this martial art, try to stop the stress, ease anxiety and to alleviate the effects of diseases such as cancer, exercising body and mind in a makeshift space under the shadow of the Guantánamo José Martí Park.
