The systematicity of the actions aimed at the protection of biodiversity as an essential element in environmental security makes the collective of the Baracoa Conservation Department at Alejandro de Humboldt National Park a defender of the Life Task in the municipality.
Reforestation with the aim of maximum protection of forests, soils and water in quantity and quality, as well as the recovery of mangroves, are among the prioritized activities.
Based on this task, they created nurseries in the communities located in the protected area considered the most important in the country, where specialists, park rangers and the inhabitants of the area have a direct involvement.
Also in favor of the Humboldt Park, marine ecosystems are monitored, after the training of divers who will support the surveillance of mangroves, water birds, fish counts, invertebrates and other ocean species throughout the municipality.
