The production of bread, distributed for the basic basket and specialized services, is one of the actions implemented by the Food Enterprise of Guantanamo, as part of the measures adopted by the Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez to face the current energy situation in the country.
Yunis Silvente Calderín, Provincial Director of this Entity, also pointed out to Radio Guantanamo Station that they temporarily readjust the production of cookies, pastries and other by-products made with flour due to fuel limitations in the country.
He also explained that in the territory the daily consumption for the production of bread is about 35 tons, for which they also have wheat flour coverage and expects that the raw material will continue to be transferred to bakeries in the Cuban easternmost territory.
Yunis Silvente Calderín, Provincial Director of the Food Company, said Guantanamo has 87 bakeries and about 24 candy stores, of which 64 run on electricity, about 52 with firewood and only four use oil.
In case the reserve runs out, the production of food will be reordered of in other establishments.
However, he said that the Guaso Canned Factory, with an already obsolete technology, continues its industrial process of fruits and other agricultural products, which will allow the production of pulps, juices, jams, soft drinks, among other by-products supplied to the enterprise.
