Guantanamo has a favorable energy matrix to face the current situation characterized by the fuel deficit, which has been referred twice by the President of the Councils of State and Ministers Miguel Díaz-Canel, and for which the province is prepared.
Speaking to the ACN, Joaquín Díaz Cantillo, director of the Electric Enterprise in the territory, explained that the first measure is to reduce energy demand during peak hours - from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, and from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm - both in the residential sector, consumer of 62 percent of electricity, as in state and local centers for self-employed workers.
Díaz Cantillo specified that residential consumers of the electric service can contribute to this crusade for savings, displacing the busiest hour of household chores, especially food cooking, outside peak hours, opening only the necessary refrigeration equipment and using the indispensable lights.
He exemplified that if each citizen should turns off the unnecessary lights, it can contribute to the restoration of service in an area affected, considerably reducing demand, as well as benefiting from this measure if the case were reversed.
In the state sector, he said, organizational measures that date from other crucial moments are dusted off, and not precisely from the Special Period, only essential equipment will be used, among which air conditioners do not qualify, and activities will cease at the mentioned period of times, except in the centers that provide vital services.
