The general secretary of the Cuban Workers Federation, in Guantánamo, Juana Eglis Fernández Lowit reiterated the support of the labor movement to the measures implemented in the country due to the current complex energy situation in the nation.
The top union leader in this territory urges labor groups to comply with the electricity savings in the hours from 11:00 am until 6:10 pm and at nights, measures that should be taken by the municipal headquarters of the CTC and all unionists.
She noted that the regulations to deal with this contingency also include the readjustment of schedules in both enterprises and budgeted units in order to reduce the demand for electricity during peak hours, which will contribute to minimizing blackouts in the residential area.
Juana Eglis Fernández Lowit, general secretary of the CTC in Guantanamo said that this contribution of the workers is important for the province to maintain basic health services, food production, among other benefits vital to socio-economic development.
Given the resurgence of the hostile policy of the United States against Cuba - the leader of the labor movement said - Guantanamo workers maintain the priorities of saving resources as well as the work aimed at import substitution and productive chains.
She added that the labor movement in the Cuban easternmost province supports the organizational measures of the Council of Ministers to face fuel shortages, a new challenge that we face and as always we will overcome it under the wise leadership of our top authorities and the understanding of the people.
