Guantanamo Stands out for Actions to Protect the Ozone Layer

ozono layerGuantanamo celebrates the International Ozone Layer Day, this September 16,  with the declaration of 3 centers free for the emission of depleting products of the Earth's atmospheric shield.

The result is also recognized at the national level, to be included among the 10 entities and the groups of the Tourism and Restaurant such as La Punta and Hostal Río Miel, in Baracoa, and the Hotel Faro de Maisí, located in the easternmost end of the province, whose good practices in the activity of refrigeration and climate allowed to reach this condition for the first time in the province.

This achievement is the result of the educational and training work carried out by the scientific community with different entities and organizations to raise awareness of the need to manage and replace the depleting gases of the ozone layer.

This is highlighted by Milagros Perales Rondón, environmental management specialist in the local delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, who pointed out among the main actions, the training courses on proper management of gases and how avoiding its emission to the environment aimed at state and non-state workers.

The central activity for the International Ozone Layer Day in Guantánamo will take place this September 16 at the Vocational Institute of Information Technology José Maceo Grajales, where the classroom of good refrigeration practices operates and the best works were submitted to the contest on the day.
