Guantanamo basinThe rains of the last days favor the runoff in the river basins of some of the reservoirs of the Guantanamo province that increase the volumes of water, at dawn this Monday with 50 percent of its capacity, 12 percent more than in the first half of the month.

The most benefited reservoir is Faustino Pérez, which is nearly its total filling capacity with 25 million cubic meters, of the 26 possible, with prospects of continuing the ascent due to the favorable conditions for rainfall.

The accumulation of this reservoir allows the maximum of deliveries to the aqueduct system with figures higher than 1,200 liters per second for the central, north and east areas of the Guantanamo City, where three-fourths of the population of this city reside.

Meanwhile, the La Yaya dam, which supplies the fresh water to those who inhabit the South of the provincial capital, the residents of Niceto Pérez, and the surrounding communities, increases its reserves up to 50 percent, sufficient to maintain agricultural irrigation and the supply to the population.

Likewise, the Jaibo and Los Asientos reservoirs reflect increases in the environment of ten percent, meanwhile Pozo Azul in the coastal municipality San Antonio del Sur, barely benefited from the rains and accumulates 13 percent of its capacity, a capacity that does not allow water service to one of the most important agricultural areas of the province, the Caujerí Valley.
