October 10The pilling of bell that announced in La Demajagua a new day, not just a common day, it was October Tenth, the sound rose feelings throughout Cuba and those echoes reach our days 151 years later, with other events, but the same essence: strengthen The Cuban social project.

The history recorded the date, from the redeeming words of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, the Father of the Country, to begin the struggles for the definitive independence of Cuba, until more recent moments, the legacy of only one Revolution defended in any field and that today in Parliament it shows that sense of unity, that infallible formula to stand victorious.

The extraordinary session of the Cuban Parliament of this October 10 affirmed that principle now with a greater balance between the functions exercise in the main offices of the State endorsed by the Magna Carta that was approved in April this year.

As stated in article 121, as of this day, once the president, vice president and secretary of the National Assembly of the People’s Power are elected, they are the ones who preside over the State Council, and have to ensure the compliance of the Constitution, laws, provide for the holding of extraordinary sessions of Parliament as well as issuing decrees laws and agreements, among others.

This Thursday among the deputies themselves the President of the Republic will be elected, a position that is restored, who will be accompanied by a Vice President to begin his first term of office, of the two possible ones that regulates the Magna Carta.

The Law of Laws, ratified by the majority of our people as an expression of their will and in democratic exercise, sets the guidelines for this restructuring, which enables a better performance of all administrative and state organs in the nation.

Hence the structural changes approved by the National Assembly of People’s Power as the supreme body of state power and the only one with constitutional and legislative power in the Republic of Cuba.

In the extraordinary session this Thursday we see the faces of those who chose the people trusting in decisions that contribute to build a better nation, adjusting to the current situation, with an intensified blockade but thinking like a big family, united, following the idea of José Martí and Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.

October 10th is not a random date, the same day that marked the beginning of a hundred years of struggle, also in 1976 sealed a momentous moment when through the secret and direct vote the people elected their delegates to the Municipal Assemblies, the closest representation of citizenship in the Parliament.

A power that remains indestructible and that without being a perfect work, it has been enriched through the years with a sense of historical moment.

A sample is the organization of the main power from this day when the office of President of the Republic is restored and the National Assembly of People's Power and the State Council hold a single presidency.

A restructuring that in the future will also reach all levels of the political-administrative division, under the unchanging principle that government and people are the same thing, as Fidel quoted: “Power is one, that of the working people who exercise through the National Assembly and the state agencies that depend on it.”

When the bell of La Demajagua rings on October 10th, the sound will again be heard throughout Cuba and we will see hands raised in Parliament in approval or we will hear voices that in genuine act of democracy will confirm that we are doing well, with a solid leadership, accompanied by the people, protagonist and essence of the Revolution.
