Produce and Diversify, an Order in Guantanamo

Cuban Vice PresidentThe Vice President of the Council of Ministers, Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, toured several centers of socio-economic interest in the Cuban easternmost province, as part of the government’s working agenda, led by the President of the Republic Miguel Díaz Canel Bermúdez that takes place until this Friday in Guantanamo.

Accompanied by the Minister of the Food Industry, Iris Quiñones Rojas, and Betsy Díaz Vazquez, head of Internal Trade, the member of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party also visited the slaughter complex of the territory, where he knew about the difficulties facing the entity in the production line.

In this regard, he urged workers to enhance creativity in order to reduce the stay of animals in the slaughter area, and accordingly the loss of tons of meat and economic income, as well as to diversify the by-products obtained by the entity and extreme control to avoid criminal acts.

The tour also included the municipal processing center and the Emma Rosa Chuy Arnaud Agricultural Vocational Institute, an educational center that graduates students as  middle-level technician and skilled worker in 12 specialties, including gastronomic services, technology and food processing and commerce.
