In 1996, the Nobel Prize Laureate Gabriel García Márquez, before the 52nd General Assembly of the Inter American Press Association, IAPA, in Los Angeles, the United States considered journalism the best job in the world.
The "Gabo", affectionately called, in his speech expressed: (...) " journalism is an insatiable passion that can only be digested and humanized by its brutal confrontation with reality.
It is the exact definition to express the feelings of this reporter accompanying the President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz Canel, during his two-day government visit to Guantanamo.
It is easy to appreciate how much there is in his method and style of work, in his insatiable and deep questions, in his refined humor, in his timely criticism and in adequate tone, and especially in his way of reaching the town, breaking schemes and protocols, of what was learned from of Raul and Fidel.
As he does every day in Cuba, in Guantanamo, Díaz Canel toured productive, educational and service centers, walked through the streets of the Guantanamo City and in the Caimanera municipality, talked with the men and women on foot that day by day do more for their land.
He met with executives from different strategic sectors, and valued what is done in the Cuban easternmost mountainous province for its sustainable social economic development and the increase in the quality of life of its population.
But he also defined work priorities for the next year in which compliance with the economic plan is vital, regardless of threats and the blockade, and called for continuing to banish immobility and continue thinking as a country.
