Six Guantanamo researchers will share their experiences in the management, conservation and use of the soil during the Eighth Congress of the Cuban Society of Soil Science, held until June 5 in Havana.
The impact of demonstrative areas in production entities like Maximo Gomez Cala Cooperative, in Yateras and the Mariana Grajales Grajales Credit and Service Cooperative, in the municipality of Guantanamo, is the focus of the paper by Scientist Alvaro Blanco Imbert , who studies the results of this initiative for the resources management in the short scale.
A subject of study is also the assessment of the agricultural ecosystems’ sustainability in the latter entity, where more than 20 farms challenged soil salinity for fruits, grain and vegetables.
Also, the Guantanamo delegation to the Congress deals with the results of the national program for the soil conservation and improvement in the prioritized basins in the eastern province.
The study of soils for the of the coconut cultivation in Baracoa and the use of the geographic information for the assessment of agricultural productivity are also part of the researches that Guantanamo specialist exchange in the Eighth Congress of the Cuban Society of soil Science.
