The signing of the Code of Ethics this year by 50 doctors who will provide their services abroad, was the opening activity for celebrations to mark the 30th anniversary of the inauguration of the General Teaching Hospital Doctor Agostinho Neto in Guantánamo province
Rogelio Creagh Bandera, director general of the institution stated that medical care provided in 30 countries from different continents, as well as the steady work of more than 650 physicians, 200 residents and about 2500 medical students, nurses and technicians involved, distinguish the work of the medical facility.
Other activities of the agenda include a tribute to founders of the hospital and workers of each department that have over 20 years of uninterrupted work, and all they will be awarded in a Cultural Gala on July 23.
During the final days of this month, they will also present an exhibition about the main scientific achievements of specialists and research groups of the General Teaching Hospital Dr. Agostinho Neto, at the Guantanamo Pavilion, where the advances in technical and graduate categories of these professionals will be displayed too.
Last year the largest investment program underway ever since in the hospital to improve the comfort of the more than 90 service and achieve higher levels of clinical care, in this sense the Provincial Surgery unit, neonatology, eye care salons, among other services were rebuilt.
The General Teaching Hospital Guantanamo began operating in the eighties but it was not until July 26, 1985 when it was officially opened by Fidel Castro during the commemoration in Guantanamo of the 32snd anniversary of the assault on Moncada barracks in Santiago de Cuba and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, in Bayamo.
