With a call to different generations of Cubans to be always faithful to the Homeland and the Revolution, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, second secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba summed up the National Rally for the deeds of the Moncada Garison held in Santiago de Cuba.
We commemorate the anniversary of the attack on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes Garrison, when the city of Santiago de Cuba celebrates the 500th anniversary of its foundation, he calls us to the celebrations but at the same time to the reflection for all Cubans, said the vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers.
Our first thoughts go to Commander Fidel Castro, whose revolutionary life and work is closely linked to this heroic city, said Machado Ventura, and highlights his emotion upon evoking the history of Santiago where the natives faced the Spanish colonization and African slaves revolted the mines of Cobre.
The Cuban leader pointed out that this tradition of fight is inherited by the Liberation and the Rebel Armies in this city, home to many of the performers of the Cuban history and where the remains of Mariana Grajales, Mother of Maceo; Carlos Manuel de Cespedes; José Martí; Frank Pais and other men who gave their lives for the Cuban emancipation lay.
He said that Santiago de Cuba, where part of the Frank País Second Eastern Front and the Third Front Mario Muñoz Monroy was set, has been forge and quarry of revolutionary actions.
For all that history, Machado Ventura urged to work together so that current generations keep alive the legacy of the founding fathers. They are paradigms of the nation.
The second secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba stressed that those who saw Santiago after the passing of Hurricane Sandy and see this city today, can say, nothing is impossible for a people united like our people.
"The will, energy, willingness and skill of Santiago citizens to face the devastation of the province are only possible in a Revolution like ours and by having friends like ours who gave us their solidarity to help us restore Santiago. Thank you, on behalf of all Cubans. "
Cuban Vice President congratulated the people of Santiago de Cuba in the name of the top leadership of the Revolution on this anniversary, especially Lazaro Exposito, first secretary of the Communist Party in the eastern province, "Santiago has shown that without losing its hospitality continues to be rebellious, heroic. To this it should be added that neither can give up being, as Raul Castro said, a clean, ordered, disciplined and a more beautiful city".
Jose Machado Ventura also highlighted the conclusion of the first stage of the restoration of relations between the United States and Cuba and said, "A long way that includes the lifting of the blockade and the Guantanamo return of the naval base begins."
"July 26 is a historic day because those actions were not carried out in vain. The seeds sown by those who fell have borne fruit," he said in a keynote speech at the 26 de Julio School City, where the National Rally was held celebrating the anniversary.
