The most outstanding athlete in this eastern territory was the Caimanera rower Angel Fournier with two golds and one silver, while the wrestler Yowlys Bonne Rodriguez, of 57 kg, won also the gold.
Arlen Lopez of the division of 75 kg and Erislandy Savon of 91 kg, both of the Cuban boxing squad and the heptathlon athlete Yorgelys Rodriguez were the other titles that the easternmost province of Cuba could obtain.
With the silver medal hanging around their necks the wrestler Yaquelín Estornell Elizástegui and the shooter Jorge Grau Potrillé returned home, while the rower Yariulvis Cobas, the basketball player Klenia Noblet and the triple long jump Ernesto Revé (16.94) came back with bronze.
One group of these Guantanamo sportsmen and sportswomen will participate next month from 22 to 30 at the World Athletics Championship based in Beijing, China.
Next year there is also a commitment to perform at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where there will be games between arch-rivals.
