During the gala that took place Friday at Mariana Grajales Cuello Square, some 58 women received the 23 de Agosto Distinction given by the FMC National Secretariat, a highest recognition that was also given to ten men in the province for their unconditional support for the organization.
For the first 16 women in the province of Guantanamo with an outstanding record in the women's movement received the Seal 120 Aniversario del desembarco del Granma, welcoming the 55th anniversary of FMC.
Founders of the organization, retired, workers in the sector of agriculture, Education, Health, other sectors of production and services, as well as combatants of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) and the Ministry of Interior (MININT) figured among the outstanding women.
Oceania Orihuela Bigñote, general secretary of the organization in the province, congratulated the honorees and called along with the more than 190 000 women to work with love and conviction to keep alive the legacy of Vilma Espin.
