Given the strong meteorological and hydrological drought in the province, the delegation of Water Resources of this eastern region, executes emerging works with the support of several entities, in order to minimize the impact it has on the population and the territory´s economy.
The First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in Guantanamo, Denny Legra Azahares, along with the President of the Government in the province, Nancy Acosta Hernandez, visited some of these works and was confirmed that in late August the pumping station La Tablilla, near the Argeo Martínez sugar mill, from the Jaibo reservoir, aimed at reducing the current water supply frequency in the city.
As part of this work, the urgent repair of the master channel in several points in order to eliminate water leaks is undertaken.
The emerging plan also includes the materialization of El Yarey aqueduct, in the channel of the Camarones system, which supply water to the community of Hector Infante and streamlines the delivery pipes to the municipality of Manuel Tames as well as the set of a second pump station in Montgomery.
Mitigating the effects of drought in the population is an essential task of the workers at Guantanamo Water Resourses hydraulic, which at this stage focus works able to reduce the negative impact of drought in the quality of life in Guantanamo.
