The Cuban Pedro Pablo Pichardo won the silver medal in the triple jump at the Athletics World Championships, in Beijing, China.
Although Pichardo got a good record of 17.73 m, he could not surpass the US Christian Taylor (18.21), winner of the title with the second best record of all time.
Taylor, London 2012 Olympic champion said that he got the gold medal in his sixth attempt and made history with a jump only surpassed by the Britain Jonathan Edwards´ world record, 18.29 m.
The Cuban triple jumper performed the best jump in his last attempt as a demonstration of his competitive quality.
In competition the Portuguese Nelson Evora won the bronze metal with 17.52 m.
Pichardo, the Pan American champion in Toronto last July, and owner of a record of 18.08 meters in the current season, will seek revenge in the 2016 Summer Olympics.
