For a better of road safety, builders of this province carry out actions in Guantanamo-Santiago de Cuba highway, and in the regional road that connects the eastern part of the country, the towns of Cajobabo and Punta de Maisi, both routes of national interest.
For these purposes, it was approved this year a budget of about three million of Cuban Convertible Pesos (C.U.C), most of it aimed at the first of these roads, where clearings and leveling are made, prior to the construction of a new four kilometer stretch of asphalt, between the areas known as Belleza and Los Ramos.
Francisco Hernandez, deputy director of the Center Road Guantanamo, said that Emilio Daudinot brigade, of the Ministry of Construction, will also build a detour over Belleza River- that will become an alternative route, when finally the 120 meter-bridge will be erected.
As he pointed out, in the mountain road Cajobabo-La Máquina- La Punta de Maisi (just over 60 kilometers with curves and steep slopes) another brigade of builders completed the 600 meters paving road, foreseen for 2015, and on that same highway they now repair the bridge in Caleta.
On that road, located in the municipality of Maisi that favors the communities of Plan Turquino, aproche slabs were completely installed, and now the slope of one end is reversed, which was devastated by the penetration of the sea in 2012, after Hurricane Sandy.
In recent times a number of dangerous slopes of the road that is on the way to the easternmost lighthouse of Cuba, among them the hill Guánara-Limones- have been coated with hydraulic concrete seeking greater durability, safety and reduction of traffic accident rates.
This year part of the budget for construction and installation of roads, more than 17 million pesos, were aimed at the maintenance plan, with which half of the construction work were performed on the three roads that connects the territories of Guantanamo-Baracoa, Palenque-Yateras and Sagua de Tánamo.
On the path to the First City of Cuba, the builders are working on the repair of the stretch Las Marias, located in the viaduct La Farola, recognized as one of the seven wonders of Cuban civil engineering, whose inauguration in 1965 broke the isolation of Baracoa since its founding in 1511
Meanwhile, on the road that reaches the mountainous municipality of Yateras, the gully of the Alto de Boquerón was solved; and on the way to the neighboring province of Holguin they restore holes and work on earth-moving, paving, specifically from the junction of the road from El Salvador to Limonar.
From January to date plus sidewalks and curbs were completed at the entrance of the town of Imías; the brigades have painted bridges, weeded green areas and cleaned sewer in all routes, in addition to have repaired one kilometer road of access to the town of Honduras, belonging to Manuel Tames.
