The reaching of the aforetold goal with more than four months ahead of schedule was possible by the stability at the entrance of watercrafts and abilities of laborers in the unloading.
According to Juan Bautista Alcantara, director of the Port, more vessels are to enter through this dock, which would ensure far exceed the amount of planned merchandise and continue recovering its coastwise transportation, in line with the provisions of 270th guideline of the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution.
Once concluded the unload of nearly 3000 tons of cement transported by Suzie-Q ship, Boqueron port workers have exceeded their annual goal of merchandise handled in over 2400 tons.
In the final years of the last century, more than 80 000 tons of goods arrived through the port, adjacent to the Yankee illegal naval base in Guantanamo.
