    Guantanamo the Only Undefeated in the National Baseball Series

    The team of Guantanamo, the only undefeated in the newly started 55th National Baseball Series, is one of the main attractions of the fans, after wiping out the host team of Holguin.

    The team of Guantanamo, the only undefeated in the newly started 55th National Baseball Series, is one of the main attractions of the fans, after wiping out the host team of Holguin.

    Although Guantanamo baseball players are not among the favorites in the current Cuban championship, they have had a good start and have shown that will continue fighting to be included among the eight teams that advance to the next stage.

     After defeating three times Holguin, they will face tomorrow Matanzas team, which lost with Cienfuegos 1-2 during the present matches.

     The director Ruben Prevots told AIN before traveling to Matanzas province that the offense scarce, "is at hand, but if the pitching continues to perform well as before."

     Other matches that attract attention are those performed by Ciego Avila and Isla de Pinos, which are the current champion and runner-up, respectively, against Camagüey and Industriales, in that order.

     Ciego de Ávila was defeated 1-2 by Industriales and have record of two wins and two defeats, and Isla de Pinos were overcome 1-2 by Villa Clara, with a win and three defeats in four games, as both opened the game of the Series.

     In addition to the Guantanamo-Matanzas, Camagüey and Ciego de Avila-Isla de la Juventud-Industriales matches, Thursday Pinar del Rio Cienfuegos, Sancti Spiritus-Artemisa, Villa Clara Holguin, Santiago de Cuba-Las Tunas will play in Mayabeque-Granma.

     After three competitive days, Guantánamo (3-0) ranks first in the standings, followed by Industriales, Cienfuegos, Sancti Spiritus, Villa Clara, Santiago de Cuba, Las Tunas and Granma (2-1), Ciego de Avila (2-2), Matanzas, Pinar del Rio, Artemisa and Mayabeque Camagüey (1-2), Isla de la Juventud (1-3) and Holguin (0-3).
