The Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) in the province of Guantanamo granted the Diploma 55th Anniversary of the mass organization to the intensive care unit of the General Hospital Dr. Agostinho Neto in this city, in recognition of the people for humanitarian service of the distinguished health work team.

Jose Soyet Gonzalez, the leader of CDR, gave the diploma to Dr. Max Santiago Bordelois Abdo, an assistant professor of Internal Medicine and the head of the group and such diploma was received with great joy and pride by the 86 workers of the unit.
He stressed the human, professional and scientific quality of the staff of the unit and its high sense of belonging, adding the love with which they undertake the mission to obtain relevant results every day in the struggle to save the lives of critically ill patients.
Dr. Leonardo Fernández, a Guantanamo intensivist who was part of the Cuban medical brigade that fought the Ebola in Liberia, referred on behalf of the group, the highest honor that means to them to be selected among centers distinguished with the Diploma 55th Anniversary of the CDR, created by Fidel Castro on September 28, 1960 in each block to defend the Revolution.
The intensive care unit of the General Hospital Agostinho Neto ranks among the best of Cuba by its results in serious patient care, with favorable indicators regarding survival of ventilated patients, decreased fatality rate and zero deaths in case of multiple trauma patients or those who suffer dengue and cholera, benefits that a high-level scientific team guarantee with the technological support needed.
Currently the unit is subject to an evaluation process after which it would have the accreditation to train foreign doctors in the specialty.
