The Federation of Cuban Women (FMC, in Spanish) in Guantanamo is distinguished for its work among the five best in the country by the increasing role of this advanced force in the economic, social fields and tasks of the organization.
This was recognized by Ana Teresa Amarelle Boue, the National Secretary of the FMC, in the provincial city of this organization, in which she noted as other Guantanamo results that women represent the 52 percent of the active workforce in the province.
The FMC leader also recognized the outstanding work of the organization in the municipalities of Yateras, El Salvador, Niceto Pérez, Baracoa and Caimanera, and provincial capital and Imías that are at the forefront.
Members of the Provincial Committee of the FMC of those Guantanamo locations exposed their experiences in this meeting to call for greater integration of women into the membership of the FMC, especially in the capital of the province, and thus further increase the impact of the work of the organization with 55 years of history.
Other testimony revealed how women's organization may be able to apporach the different factors in a community and confirmed that FMC's work should be daily and include different age groups, which turns into fruitful exchange of concerns and suggestions to help promoting the best values in the family.
During the plenary session of the FMC in Guantanamo, the National Secretary, Ana Teresa Amarelle Boue, urged for greater integration with other agencies such as health and education in order to strengthen preventive work to avoid communicable diseases, teenage pregnancy and support the teaching process in schools.
Meanwhile, Odalis Fuentes Córdoba, member of the Provincial Bureau of the Party, urged the women to work together and fight social indiscipline and illegalities in the neighborhoods.
The FMC was founded on August 23, 1960 and it is currently composed of more than four million members across the island.
