Jose Francisco Piedra Rencurrell, representing the Cuban Movement for the Peoples Peace and Sovereignty, said that the political significance of both encounters and the context in which it will take place after the restoration of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States.
He reiterated that the US is not the Guantanamo Naval Base and therefore, it will show the 145 delegates, the true face of its identity, and the achievements of its development programs and the warm of the working people.
Among the personalities to attend the International Seminar from November 23 to 25, he mentioned, the famous American peace activist Cindy Sheehan, the famous architect Medea Benjamin and other well known figures for their stand against war and in favor of the cessation of blockade imposed on Cuba by U. S. government.
As a distinctive note, the official continued saying, the majority of academic and intellectuals are from United States to attend the Peace Seminar, with permanent venue in Guantanamo, while the rest come from Africa, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Belgium, Greece, Portugal, Turkey , India, Japan, Palestine and other countries.
