Paisaje, geografía íntima del cuerpo (Landscape, intimate geography of the body) the photo exhibition of the renowned journalist and art critic Yuris Nórido Ruiz Cabreras, has just been opened in Guantanamo, as part of the activities for 29th anniversary of the Brothers Saiz Association (AHS).
Until the end of this month the collection of photos will be open to the public at Portico Art Gallery of the House of the Young Creator, the headquarters of the AHS. A total of 20 pieces make up this exhibition of black and white digital photography that shows body parts of dancers taken for the occasion.
The photographs, said Yuris Nórido, directly represent human landscapes: crossed arms, tighten torsos, overlapping backs. "It's about taking the body detached from the historical and cultural brands that involves costumes and accessories," he said.
Nórido chose the easternmost province of Cuba to expose the first of his collection. However, the Paisaje, geografía íntima del cuerpo series includes more than 300 images, first uploaded in his blog in 2009.
