The Assembly of the People's Power in this municipality, gathered last night in a solemn session celebrating the 145th anniversary of the city´s foundation, gave La Fama statue, symbol of the city, to a group of personalities for their contributions to the development of the city.

The Guantanamo Styled Festivities, the largest cultural celebration of the Upper Cuban Eastern,  will be held from December first through 4, and a as preamble of the 145^th  Anniversary a Gala took place at the Multi Functional Pedro Agustín Pérez Square in this city.

A selection of valuable artistic talent of the territory, performed at the Cultural Gala entitled "De la raíz del árbol" at the Pedro Agustin Perez Multi-Functional Plaza, a beautiful preamble of the celebrations today, of the 145 anniversary of the proclamation of Guantanamo City as villa.

The declaration of Guantanamo as Villa taking place 145 years ago has a special connotation this year as the festival becomes ideal space to show the sociocultural and economic changes that today holds the territory.

Cuba and the United States began today in this capital discussions on migration issues in a new round of talks including review of agreements and boosting cooperation in combating illegal flow of people.
